Two-Headed Cloned Livestock is Safe to Eat!
Okay, so maybe I am exaggerating a little, but the FDA has recently announced that cloned livestock is safe to eat. Great, so that makes me feel a lot better! They claim that cloned food is safe and that there is virtually no difference between food from clones and food from regular livestock. The reality is that we will not be seeing meat and milk from cloned animals in supermarkets anytime soon. Many consumers already feel skeptical about cloning and feel especially uneasy about eating cloned food. Ben & Jerry’s is already being proactive about the situation by letting consumers know that their ice cream comes from real cows. They already have labels that state that farmers do not use bovine growth hormones. The FDA says that cloned food does not need special labeling but don’t be surprised if “clone-free” labels appear soon. Nice, so we went from fat-free, to transfat-free, and now to clone-free food.
